About Cross Shaped

A personal blog exploring the intellectual case for Christianity — and its bearing on how we live, think, and speak into a world full of questions.

Why this blog exists

I grew up in a culture that assumed faith and reason were enemies. It took years of reading — and a fair bit of honest doubt — to discover that the intellectual case for Christianity is actually compelling. Not comfortable, not convenient, but compelling.

Cross Shaped exists because I find the questions people ask about Christianity are often good ones that deserve serious answers — not dismissal, not platitudes, and not the kind of Christians-vs-scientists caricature that dominates public conversation.

The cross is the shape at the centre of Christian faith. It is where justice and mercy meet, where doubt and hope collide. That's the spirit I'm writing in.

Developer · Writer · Father · Christian

I'm a full-stack developer based in the UK. In the rest of my life I write about faith, father a wonderful neurodivergent kid, and try to take seriously what it means to follow Christ in 2026. You can find more about me over at tomattwood.me.

Common Questions

Is this a church or ministry?

No. Cross Shaped is a personal blog. It reflects my own thinking, not any denomination or organisation. I'm a Christian who takes apologetics seriously and wants to write clearly about the questions I'm asked.

Are you a theologian?

Not formally. I'm a developer and writer who reads widely and thinks carefully. I try to engage seriously with the best versions of opposing arguments, not strawmen. I welcome correction and dialogue.

Can I submit a guest post?

Yes — if it's thoughtful, honest, and engages seriously with the topic. Get in touch via Tom's CV site.

What tradition are you writing from?

Broadly Protestant/evangelical, though I draw from across the Christian tradition. C.S. Lewis, Alvin Plantinga, Tim Keller, and N.T. Wright are all influences.
